For the first year following its late summer 2021 launch, availability of ID.4 will be limited to select dealers located primarily in Quebec, and British Columbia to meet its ZEV mandate requirement in those provinces. Shortly afterwards, in early fall, availability in Ontario will follow. Specific information and a list of participating dealers will be published closer to the vehicle’s introduction.

In 2022, production of the ID.4 will move from Germany to our factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Following this move availability will significantly increase, and we look forward to offering ID.4 at Volkswagen dealerships across Canada.

The ID.4 is expected to deliver approximately 400 km of all-electric range.

Using a level 2 residential home charger, the ID.4 can be charged from near-empty to full in as little as 7.5 hours, perfect for an overnight charge.

On the road, a 10-minute charge at a DC charging station can add almost 100 km of range, a 15-minute charge can add over 140 km of range, and a 30-minute charge can bring the battery to about 70%.

Both rear- and all-wheel drive versions of ID.4 will be available. We expect the ID.4 to be one of the first affordable electric SUVs with AWD available in Canada.

The ID.4 will be available in both rear- and all-wheel drive versions with an impressive level of standard features. It will also offer an available Statement Package with a broad array of luxury and technology features, as well as 20" aluminum alloy wheels.

The ID.4 is designed to function well even in the harshest of Canadian winter conditions. Every ID.4 in Canada will come with heated front seats, a heated windshield, a heated steering wheel, and an advanced heat pump as standard equipment.

Initially, the ID.4 will be produced at our plant in Zwickau, Germany, which produces electric vehicles exclusively in a fully carbon-neutral process. To help meet anticipated demand as more and more Canadians go electric, in 2022 ID.4 production will shift to Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The all-new ID.4 will lead the charge for Volkswagen’s electric future in North America. With versatile SUV proportions and available all-wheel drive, it’s perfectly suited to the needs of Canadians. That said, several other models, including the European-market ID.3 and a production version of the ID. Buzz concept vehicle, are under consideration for the future.

Customers who purchase an ID.4 will enjoy a period of complimentary charging from Electrify Canada’s growing network of fast-chargers.

While we wish we could bring the ID.4 to every province right away, there are a few important reasons why the ID.4 is only available in certain provinces starting in 2021.

Right now there’s a huge global demand for the ID.4, and only one factory in Zwickau, Germany is producing them for North America and Europe. After production begins in our Chattanooga, Tennessee plant in 2022, many more ID.4s will be available to help bring Electric for Everyone.

As well, to stay compliant with electric vehicle (EV) mandates in British Columbia and Quebec, Volkswagen Canada is required to sell a specified amount of electric vehicles in these provinces. And with a limited supply of ID.4s available, we have to bring ID.4 to these provinces first.

You can expect to see them on the road later this year.

And after production begins in Chattanooga in 2022, you’re going to start seeing the ID.4 a whole lot more. The ID.4 was made to bring Electric for Everyone and we intend to keep it that way.

Yes! The ID.4 currently qualifies for the federal iZEV rebate of $5,000. Depending on the province in which you live, you may be eligible to receive additional incentives. These include, but are not limited, to $3,000 from British Columbia’s Go Electric BC Program or as much as $8,000 from Quebec’s Roulez Vert program. The Roulez Vert program also offers an additional rebate of $600 on the purchase of a home charger. That makes owning and driving an EV even more affordable and one step closer to our vision of Electric for Everyone.

In addition, the powertrain comes with a 5 year/100,000km* warranty, the corrosion perforation warranty period is 7 years/unlimited kilometres and you can have peace of mind knowing that the ID.4 comes with an 8 year/160,000km* high voltage system limited warranty along with 4 years of roadside assistance.

Yes, the battery warranty is included as part of the 8 year/160,000km* high voltage system limited warranty. This not only includes the battery, but it also includes all of the following:
