With the regulation passed September 17, 2008 for Quebec stating that all vehicles require snow tires, many have been wondering if the same will happen to Ontario. This is a very realistic possibility although nothing has been passed yet. Even without this being mandatory for Ontario motorists there are still many reasons to purchase snow tires regardless of how little you drive. Snow tires are no longer "snow" tires, they are snow ice and "winter" tires. How can you have a winter tire you ask? Once the temperature drops below 7.2 degrees celcius an all season tires ability to grip the road is greatly diminished. During winter this can cause a dramatic drop in control resulting in longer stopping distance and less driving control. This is where a "winter" tire would come into play. Winter tires are made predominantly of silica based rubber compound which will stay pliable and grip to road in extremely low weather temperatures. Match that with an agressive water and slush channeling tread pattern and you will make light work of seemingly treturous conditions.
We carry many winter tires from Continental, Michelin, Pirelli and Marangoni. Not only do we offer tires from these great manufacturers, but we also have many packages available with rims steel or alloy.
