NOT ALL “CERTIFIED” IS CREATED EQUAL
Are you considering buying a certified pre-owned car?
Sometimes the only way to get a luxury or high performance sports car is to wait a few years until the price has reduced to a more affordable level. Basically, you get more car for your money.
Before deciding on a certified pre-owned car, keep in mind that not all “Certified” programs have the same level of reconditioning, warranty, or finance incentives. Also, there are two types of certified cars, those certified by the dealer and those certified by a factory sponsored program. A dealer can call a car certified if they perform a basic mechanical fitness and issue a safety standards certificate. A factory program insists on a multi point inspection (VW pure certified is 112 points) with much more detail and higher standards of reconditioning to qualify.
Factory-certified: Factory-certified cars typically represent the best deal. It means the vehicle has been inspected, needed repairs have been made and the car has been backed by a factory warranty.(Brantford Volkswagen also provides carproof history report, removes all liens, performs any service to bring car up to date, removes any surface dents, touches up stones chip, performs a professional clean, provides minimum 2yr/40,000k factory warranty with roadside assistance and finance incentives sometimes as low as 0%)
Other: A dealer certified car probably didn’t get the multipoint inspection or the series of repairs that the factory certified car did. Also, these cars won’t have a factory backed warranty but will have the availability of an aftermarket warranty with optional deductibles, repair limits and less than stellar re-imbursement history.
Factory-certified: Any authorized retailer in North America can repair the vehicle (VW has no deductable and no repair limits,).
Other: Some aftermarket warranty companies are not honored at all repair facilities. It puts the responsibility on the vehicle owner to pay for the repair and seek re-imbursement from the warranty company. Know your deductibles and repair limits if you have an aftermarket warranty.
Factory-certified: Higher standards such as brakes and tires which require at least 50% wear remaining.
Other: Non-factory certified requires only 10-30% wear remaining to be allowed to issue a safety standards certificate
You can enjoy the security and prestige of buying new or the financial benefits of buying used. Better yet, you can buy a VW Pure certified vehicle from Brantford Volkswagen and enjoy the benefits of both, while saving you money at the same time!
